Cultures of Resistance Films, in collaboration with Postane, presents a screening of the documentary film From Trash to Treasure – Turning Negatives into Positives!
⮕ This short film showcases the spirit of reimagination in Lesotho, a highland country in Southern Africa, by featuring a variety of creatives who use minimal resources to respond to entrenched social problems. Their stories include those of musicians writing songs about climate change, filmmakers working to end child marriage, and farmers collecting seeds to protect endangered tree species.
⮕ ?️ The film screening will be followed by a discussion with iara lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent filmmaker, environmental activist.

? ABOUT filmmaker:
iara lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent, is an activist, filmmaker, and founder/director of the Cultures of Resistance Network, an organization that promotes global solidarity and supports agitators, educators, farmers, and artists to build a more just and peaceful world through creative resistance and nonviolent action. Her films address topics that are often overlooked by the mainstream media–including indigenous rights, food sovereignty, and environmental justice–and are frequently set in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. They have been shown across the world at events ranging from screenings in refugee camps and community centers to debuts at the Berlinale and Sundance festivals.
